Our Programs

We recognize the powerful role of faith and traditional institutions in shaping behaviors and influencing community norms. Through this program, we mobilize and empower Imams, traditional rulers, and respected community figures as Faith and Community Health Advocates (FCHAs).

These leaders are trained and supported to:

  • Promote life-saving practices such as immunization and hygiene
  • Advocate for child protection and family well-being
  • Counter misinformation using faith-based messaging
  • Serve as trusted bridges between communities and service providers

This approach ensures that interventions are locally accepted, culturally aligned, and sustainably driven from within the community.

Our immunization program focuses on reaching underserved and resistant populations, particularly zero-dose children—those who have never received any routine vaccines.

Key interventions include:

  • Addressing vaccine hesitancy and refusal through targeted engagement
  • Resolving polio non-compliance cases in high-risk settlements
  • Supporting routine immunization campaigns and outreach services
  • Collaborating with health authorities to strengthen last-mile delivery

By combining community trust with strategic health interventions, we contribute to improved immunization coverage and disease prevention.

We promote Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) practices as a foundation for healthier communities.

Our activities include:

  • Community sensitization on handwashing with soap at critical times
  • Promotion of safe water handling and storage practices
  • Encouraging proper waste disposal and environmental cleanliness
  • Supporting Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) initiatives

Through behavior change communication and grassroots participation, we help reduce the spread of preventable diseases and improve overall public health outcomes.

Building trust is central to everything we do. This program creates safe and structured platforms for engagement between communities, service providers, and stakeholders.

We facilitate:

  • Dialogue sessions to address rumors and misinformation
  • Mediation in cases of service rejection or resistance (e.g., immunization block refusal)
  • Community feedback mechanisms to improve service delivery
  • Inclusive conversations that amplify local voices and concerns

These efforts foster mutual understanding, reduce conflict, and strengthen community ownership of development initiatives.

We integrate robust Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) systems across all our programs to ensure accountability, transparency, and impact.

Our approach includes:

  • Real-time data collection and analysis
  • Performance tracking and outcome measurement
  • Evidence-based reporting for stakeholders and partners
  • Continuous learning and adaptive programming

By leveraging data, we not only measure success but also refine our strategies to maximize effectiveness and scalability.

We are committed to expanding access to inclusive and equitable education, particularly for Almajiri and out-of-school children.

Our interventions focus on:

  • Foundational literacy and numeracy development
  • Bridging programs for reintegration into formal education
  • Flexible and community-based learning models
  • Advocacy for inclusive education policies

This program aims to empower vulnerable children with the skills and opportunities needed for a more secure and productive future.

Learn more about our process

At Ihed Initiative, our process is designed to ensure that every program is strategically planned, effectively executed, and sustainably delivered. We adopt a structured, community-driven approach that prioritizes impact, accountability, and continuous learning.

Stakeholder Engagement & Planning (Meeting)

We begin by engaging key stakeholders, including community leaders, government partners, and local actors, to establish trust and alignment. Through consultative meetings and collaborative planning sessions, we define priorities, identify challenges, and co-create actionable strategies tailored to the local context.

Program Implementation (Execute)

With a clear roadmap in place, we move into implementation by deploying trained personnel, mobilizing community structures, and activating field-level interventions. Our execution phase emphasizes inclusive participation, behavior change communication, and adaptive delivery to ensure programs remain responsive and effective.

Results Delivery & Impact (Delivery)

We conclude with a strong focus on outcomes, ensuring that interventions translate into measurable impact. Through monitoring, evaluation, and community feedback, we assess performance, document lessons learned, and strengthen systems for sustainability and scale.
