IHEI is a community-based organization committed to improving health outcomes, child survival, and educational awareness through faith-informed engagement and community ownership.

The initiative focuses on strengthening collaboration between communities, religious leadership, health authorities, and policymakers to ensure sustainable and culturally acceptable interventions.
Who We Are
The Islamic Health and Education Initiative (IHED Initiative) is a faith-driven, community-led organization dedicated to improving child survival and strengthening public health outcomes in underserved communities.
We address preventable child mortality, low immunization uptake, vaccine resistance, poor sanitation practices, and misinformation by mobilizing trusted religious and community leaders to promote culturally aligned, evidence-based health solutions.
Through integrated programming in immunization, WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), community dialogue, and systems strengthening, IHED Initiative builds trust between communities and health systems ensuring sustainable, locally owned impact.



Specific Objectives
- Reduce the number of zero-dose children in targeted LGAs.
- Resolve polio non-compliance and block rejection through dialogue and mediation.
- Increase the number of children reached during routine immunization and campaigns.
- Improve WASH behaviors, including environmental sanitation.
- Promote proper hand-washing and waste disposal practices.
- Strengthen trust and communication between communities and health authorities.

At IHED Initiative, our strength lies in the dedication, expertise, and integrity of our team. We are a diverse group of professionals united by a shared commitment to improving child survival, strengthening community trust, and advancing sustainable development outcomes.
Our team brings together experience in public health, community engagement, education, monitoring and evaluation, faith-based advocacy, and program management. We combine technical expertise with deep community understanding to design and implement culturally responsive, evidence-based interventions.

High-risk and non-compliant communities in (550. Five hundred and fifty Communities of 10 LGAs in Kaduna State,).
Caregivers of under-five children
Religious leaders (Imams, scholars)
Traditional and community leaders
Local policymakers and health workers
Our Goal
To reduce preventable disease outbreaks and improve child survival in high-risk Northern Nigerian communities through sustained promotion of community acceptance of health, sanitation, and education interventions led by trusted faith and community leaders.
